Been going down
this poorly lit, winding path
Passing by shadows of moments lost
wondering if they still know my face
Sewing the seeds of alienating lies
never quite shrouded by the clouds I brought along
Slowly tearing another layer
off my perpetually dying shell...
Another castle, chapter two,
the book seems to only change its cover.
I fall and stumble on my own guilt
Never quite could be like them
A cold wave of solitude engulfs me
and the thousands of smiles are still the same.
This line I wasn't meant to cross
has long been lost beneath the dust
Not a mere mask, but a new world
with each passing cage that I meet
Create, divert and sin
but never tell the truth
Longing for that moment described
in the parchments of old
Never quite reaching a glimmer
of that which I hold true...
Another step, another thorn -
these moments are forever lost.
A frozen touch upon my spine
seem to consume this soul of mine...
And from the mightiest emperor
I turn to dust once more...

My dear friends...
As you probably noticed, I haven't been here in quite a while...
Life is demanding a lot of me latelty, and to be honest, my poetry is something I cannot dedicate myself to for now.
The work here is a lot more than just poetry to me, it is my very heart and soul, all that my mind learns, understands, craves and creates. My poetry is a big piece of who I am and for the longest time I have let it consume me...
My being is now moving towards a new form of expression... My art account
holds this new work... It is an amalgamation of photography, poetry and searing madeness... I hope you will join me for the ride.
I will pop in here every once in a while to read your wonderful comments, and perhaps post some poetry should my soul choose to unveil something to me..

POETRY CONTEST WINNER

Deviants that entered (in chronological order):

First and foremost I would like to thank all of you that entered again. Your poems were obviously very much what i asked for - powerful, personal, transcendent.
You all really surprised me, I was not expecting this level of poetry and that just made it VERY HARD to judge. The poems were not necessarily judged on style, or composition or anything of that nature. What I was looking for was that one poem that really described who I am as a poet... That's why I made this contest, I wanted to see if the people that read my poetry understand who I am beyond the work... All of the poems managed to do that in one way or another.

HOWEVER, there was one poem that really embodied completely what I was trying to do/looked for here…
And that would be
's entry:
The eternal flame that burns inside,
Within the depths of my mind,
My body… my soul.
Slowly, much too slowly,
The fire begins to sear my skin.
Engulfing my thoughts in flames,
Until they are forced to emerge.
Burning through my fingertips,
Painting my story for those who care.
Words will melt onto paper,
Melding all my feelings together.
It is then that you will see,
See the visions of my mind,
The pain, the sorrow, my subtle madness.
Please don't pity me or try to relate,
For you will never truly understand,
What makes the great wheel turn,
The substance that keeps me alive.
For I am the poet,
Whom you have yet to know.
So Ashleigh, THANK YOU! And please contact me so we can get going on your BRAND-SPANKIN-NEW DevID which my alter ego will design for you

NOW, HANG ON! It's not over yet… I know I said there would only be the one grand prize, but one other Deviant really impressed me with their raw force and sheer intensity of the submission. Awakenspiral literally poured himself into this thing and submitted 2 sets of entries!

I really want to thank everyone that entered the contest. You guys really blew me away with your entries and I said it before, and I'm gonna say it again,,,

I was amazed at how deep and powerful your poems were and I thank you all for taking the time to enter.

Right now things are a bit crazy, I am working on getting a DEMO of my poetry/imagery/spoken word piece together as I am in talks with publishers and promoters... and it is literally killing any spare time I have,
BUT I will have the winner announced by May 9th. I would do it sooner but the fact of the matter is that would just not be very realistic for me time-wise.
